About Esther Escott

I received my Art degree from the University of Pennsylvania at Indiana, Pennsylvania, and have taught Art in the public schools in both Pennsylvania and California. I particularly enjoyed teaching in McKeesport, Penna., where I was the Art supervisor in fourteen elementary schools. I found that children in those early grades loved Art, and every child knew that he or she was an artist.

It was not until later, teaching Art in junior high, that I found some children deciding that they 'couldn't do art' or didn't like it. Looking back now on that experience, I see the importance of keeping children creating, if not in art, then in music, literature, drama, dance, or some other creative pursuit. I believe that children who experience the joy of creating remain creative as adults, and creative people live fuller, happier lives. Even now, while my husband and I are retired, continuing in our arts is giving us a full and active life.

Today I am enjoying working in pastels. I am an exhibiting member of Pioneer Arts and of the Pastel Society of the West coast, and have been a frequent prize winner in local shows. My work can be seen in Gallery 10, in Sutter Creek, California.

I hope you will enjoy my work.
